I did this last year and while I can’t quite believe it’s 12 months have passed, it was a really good way to keep me motivated and in touch with my bigger life goals. So here is my list, what I want to have achieved by this time next year…
In terms of Blogging, I’d like to hit 10,000 page views by this time next year. This is so incredibly ambitious but I know this is what I want, so I need to set the bar high in order to push myself. I’m going to be better with engagement and promotion and consistent posting. Other blogging goals of the year would be to write more personal content. My most viewed content are stories, experiences and opinion and I feel like I have so much to share so I want to do a bit more of that.
Work goals include getting a permanent contract. There is a lot of uncertainty that comes with being on a temporary contract, full-time with nothing to fall back on. Whilst this has been completely out of my control, I need financial stability and consistency. As soon as I get that, I’m buying a car. I’ve been driving for over three years but a lack of financial stability has meant I can’t commit to a car but I’m so desperate for my own wheels!
I currently work in HR and while I do enjoy it, I want to write. I’ve always wanted to write and I owe it to myself. This year I’ve been doing a lot of planning for my novel and next year is the year it meets paper. By this time next year, I want a full first draft.
If you want to write, you have to read. My goal this year is to read 25 books, minimum. My Best Friend and I have decided to do a book swap this year, so we read and then swap two books a month in the hope it will keep me motivated. I do love to read it’s just one of those things that falls off my priority list.
I have a few beauty goals this year, I’d like to finish an entire eye-shadow palette because I’ve never done that before. I’m starting small with a 4-6 shade palette but I feel like I buy and buy and never finish. I also want to make a conscious effort to finish products before opening new ones.
I’d like to travel more this year. While three years ago, you could not get me on a plane without a complete meltdown, last year I did my first two flights without my mum and it went kind of okay. I’ve already booked two city breaks in the first few months of 2018 which will be 4 plane journeys so I’d like to boss them and then book more.
My last two goals are the boring ones that I say every year. Firstly, to lose a bit of weight, I was always the chubby child and while now I’m a healthy weight, I’m not where I want to be so I’d like to lose a bit more.
Lastly, to save money. There are so many big things I want and my life is a constant battle between saving and indulging on myself because this is likely one of the few times in my life I will have the disposable income to indulge myself. I read if you save £416.67 each month, you’ll have over £5,000 in a year. That is a lot of money and while I won’t be able to save exactly that much, the concept got me thinking.
So that should keep me busy for the next year! I feel so ready for 2018 to work on being organised and happy. I really can’t complain about 2017, it was one of my better years but for 2018 I want bigger and better.
