Jo Malone Fragrances | May 2017

Jo Malone is a British brand which has taken the world by storm since it was created in 1994. Jo Malone London is one of the most stylish brands in the UK with it’s elegant collection of candles, body and fragrance.

The branding is minimalistic and elegant but with so many fragrances to choose from, i think it can be quite confusing if you’re new to the brand. In this post, i’m going to focus in on fragrances including my favourite fragrances as well as tips for shopping the fragrance collection.

The fragrance categories can be split into six: woody, spicy, citrus, fruity, floral and light floral. Which of these categories you gravitate towards will depend on your fragrance preferences but i always seem to go for the floral or light floral collections.

Currently, i’m using Peony & Blush Suede which is from the floral collection. This was my first ever Jo Malone London fragrance and is a really fresh, delicate fragrance. I don’t think i’ve ever come across anyone who doesn’t like this particular fragrance so if you’re unsure which one to go for, this is a safe bet.

I’m also using Mimosa & Cardamon which is also from the floral collection. This has a really distinct scent and is a much punchier scent although is still very floral.

Since trying Jo Malone, it’s really been my go to brand for fragrances for a couple of reasons. First, the fragrance develops over time so how it smells when you put it on is different from how it will smell in an hour. Secondly, the longevity is incredible and that’s the mark of a truly remarkable brand. They can become a real signature scent which i prefer as opposed to bouncing between lots of different perfumes.

When i first went to have a look at the fragrances, i found it a bit intimidating and confusing (probs just my awkwardness) because all of the bottles are the same and there are so many different scents to choose from, also, the scents do develop over time and at £43 for 30ml you want to get it right.

My advice would be to take your time, break it down by collection and test different fragrances on the specific little cards they give you. Then walk out the shop, or walk around the shop, and give it five minutes for the scents to come through.

Then go through them again and pick the ones that you like and discard the ones you don’t like. Pick the one that stands out to you and voila! It’s a good idea to keep the sample cards of the fragrances you like for future reference.

If you’re still stuck, ask for help. Jo Malone has some of the best customer service i’ve ever experienced. The girls in store were lovely, so helpful and made me feel really welcome. They actually sent me a hand written thank-you note and posted it to my house  a few days after i’d made my first purchase in store.

I hope this post has given you some insight into Jo Malone fragrances. I’d love to know your thought in the comments below whether you love Jo Malone or whether it’s a completely new brand to you.

I really hope you enjoyed this post, if you did make sure to subscribe either via email or WordPress so you don’t miss another.
