This is the first year that i’ve had a beauty advent calendar, i’m not sure why but i’ve never had one before. Out of all the calendars to chose from, i went for the Tanya Burr Cosmetics. I really love Tanya Burr Cosmetics and i thought it was really reasonably priced. I didn’t want to pay a lot, beauty advent calendars now range from £10-£100+ which is fine if that’s your budget, i personally think that’s a bit steep! I’m always on the Superdrug website and managed to get this for only £12!(RRP £25). The products are limited edition for the Christmas release and i believe most of them are limited only to this specific product.
It’s a 12 days of Christmas calendar, so you can open it either day 1-12, 12-24 or every other day. I had to open it 1-12, i was too excited to restrain myself!
Day 1 Lip Gloss (5ml) in the colour, candy cane. It’s a really gorgeous pink, it’s not too pigmented so is really wearable! I don’t wear a lot of lip gloss, but it does come in really handy! This was nice as it’s something i don’t really buy. It’s not too sticky, which I like, it sets really well. It also smells amazing!
Day 2 A little TB cosmetics nail file. This is such a cute print, one side is mint with black polka dots and the other is baby pink with white polka dots. Again, a nail file is something i forget to by myself so i really liked this. It’s perfect handbag size, i find bit nail files can be a bit awkward so i really love this miniature one, it’s far too cute!
Day 3 Behind day 3, you get a little TB cosmetics pocket mirror. This is a really satisfying shade of matte blue, with the gold logo. The actual mirror is really good, it’s not a glass mirror which i like because glass mirrors can smash where as this can’t. It is perfect for a make-up bag mirror, for essential on the go touch ups!
Day 4 Day four’s treat is a glitter pot in the colour, champagne sparkle. Now i’m not just saying this because i’m an avid enthusiast of Tanya Burr, this is the most beautiful thing i’ve ever laid eyes on. It’s like champagne and gold with a definite undertone of copper all mixed together with HAPPINESS. I genuinely cannot stop looking at it! Honestly, i’m not 100% confident using it, i’d really love her to do a tutorial using this as i’ve actually never used a glitter pot… which i’m a lil embarrassed about!
Day 5 Day five is the second lip gloss in the colour, berry pavlova. This is definitely a red gloss although the thing i do like about lip gloss is, you could put this over a lipstick and give your colour a completely different tone. The lip gloss is such a good size, perfect for this time of year when, if you’re going out, you tend to have a smaller bag so less space.
Day 6 Behind the window in day six, is a nail polish in the colour glitter and gold. This is so beautiful and festive and i think it would look really nice over a berry colour! I love TB nail polishes (although i do neglect my nails), i cannot wait to try this out!
Day 7 This is a glitter eye liner in the colour ice crystals. I love glitter eye liner at this time of year. If you’ve done your make-up in the morning and you’re going out in the evening it can be such a chore to re-do your make-up. Adding this, along with a quick touch up, will make your look different from the daytime and it’s SO easy to use!
Day 8 Day 8 is a second glitter pot in the colour, snow day. This is a white glitter pot mixed with iridescent glitter. I think this would look really lovely with a cooler winter look. I really like that it’s contrasted with the other one because i think i’ll get use out of both of them.
Day 9 One of my 2016 beauty faves is a matte lip. I was delighted when i opened the door of no.9 to reveal a matte lip, it’s in the shade christmas stocking. It’s a beautiful red that is just the most perfect Christmas Day colour!
Day 10 This is another glitter liner in the colour, treasured. This is a really lovely gold colour with a subtle bronze undertone. I really love the shade of gold it’s just so beautiful and it’s a bit more festive than a yellow-y gold.
Day 11 Number 11… Oh my god. This is a treat. This might be the most beautiful nail polish i’ve ever laid eyes upon. It’s in the colour, sleigh bells, which is the most striking sparkly red. Christmas parties or Christmas day, this is just the most Christmas colour. It’s genuinely so very pleasing to look at, i cannot wait to have it on my nails! This is hands down, my Christmas Day nail colour!
Day 12 The final day is another nail polish, in the colour glitter rain. This, again is a really lovely silver glitter that you could put over so many colours! I really love that all the nail polishes are like top coats rather than specific colours because they suit everyone. This is really nice for if your look is a bit cooler but i genuinely would wear this all year round if i’m going out! It will come in really handy but it’s probably one of those things you forget to buy yourself so i was delighted with this!
So that has been the Tanya Burr Cosmetics Advent Calendar for 2016, i was so sad to see it end. I’d absolutely buy this again if there is a new one next year. I cannot wait to get using these products, i’ve already been using the glitter liners. As we get closer to Christmas, i’m going to be reaching for these non-stop!
I really hope you’ve enjoyed this post, be sure to let me know if you did! Did you get this advent calendar? let me know which products you’ve really loved! Also, let me know if you tried other beauty calendars this year, i’d really love a few recommendations for next year!
I’m really sorry it’s been a minute since i last posted, this dissertation is kicking my butt as my hand in is January 4th and i’ve not started writing yet. I want to get the bulk of it done before Christmas so my days consist of 7 hours in the library! Also let me apologise for the pictures here, i never seem to be in when it’s daylight and i really need to invest in a good light because that flash is horrible!
Thank-you for all the support up until now, i will try my hardest to upload again before the week is out!
